Christmas

We spent this Christmas in Michigan visiting with Rocky's extended family. It was cold and snowy and a good time to meet all Rocky's aunts, uncles, cousins, and spend time together. We mostly did the traditional cooking, eating, shopping, getting on each others' nerves, and opening presents. Here's some videos and pictures of our trip.

We went out and played in the snow one day. Here's Adelaide checking out a snowball.

We went sledding on a little hill beside the house we were staying at. Adelaide absolutely loved it. She grinned each time she slid down the hill.

Sledding wasn't the only fun to be had on that little hill, Rocky did some snowboarding too. I can't help myself but I laugh at this video everything I see it.

There were 2 family get togethers while we were there-- one for each side of the family. Here's a family picture we took while at Rocky's dad's side of the family gathering. From left to right there's Rocky's parents, us, and then Rocky's brother, Micheal, and Desiree, his girlfriend, and her daughter, Claire.

One of the main reasons we went to Michigan this year was to visit with Rocky's grandma. Her health isn't the greatest and we wanted her to be able to spend some time with Adelaide. Here's a picture of 4 generations-- Rocky's mom and grandma along with Rocky and Adelaide. Adelaide absolutely loved her.

Adelaide got the hook up for Christmas-- Noah's ark, a school bus, a pink ball, a baby doll, a teddy bear, a stuffed horse, snap beads, blankets, clothes, a lego train, etc. We had a hard time squeezing it all back with us. She had a good time opening presents though. I wish we could have spread out the opening over the course of a few days so she could really enjoy each gift as she opened it. I think some of her favorite things were the snap beads and the pink ball:

She also loved the family dog quite a bit. Star, even though she looks scary, is a 6 month old puppy. Here's a little glimpse of their fun times together:

All in all it was a good trip. The travel went pretty well considering the time of year. We did wind up spending about 3.5 extra hours in the Houston airport because we missed our connecting flight on the way home but we just had a nice lunch and went to a bookstore. The hard part was being stuck in the airplane for 1.5 in Detroit while the plane was "de-iced" and some fog lifted.

On that video with Star the dog, Adelaide really sounds like a wookie!
